The found footage film, it happens to be one of my favorite genres. Many dismiss this genre as being one dimensional. You can't go more than a month without seeing one or a trailer for one. Ever since Cloverfield these films have been more and more accessible. The film follows the format of some tragedy or major event being filmed by some poor happless spirit and the entire film is shot from a first person prespective. Some films also envolve the "filmer" being the killer or a accomplice of the killer.
Below are a list of some found footage films:
August underground (and it's 2 dreadful sequels)
Clover field
The last exorcism
Diary of the dead
Blair witch project
Cannibal holocaust
And
Troll hunter
Today's review is about the Swedish creature flick troll hunter. It follows a young film crew looking for a poacher. In the area they live "bears" have been terrorizing the area, and only the registered bear hunters are able to hunt them and a renagade hunter has been leaving the corpses of bears in his wake.
I really enjoyed this film. It was a big surprise to me, I expected it to be a Fun watch, but it turned out to be a thrilling one as well. It held way more in common with Jurassic park then with the hammier creature flicks you'd expect it to. It keeps up the pace and throws little bits of humor at you along the way. The writers clearing put effort into the lore of the trolls and the different types of trolls. Its major flaw is just how silly the idea is, you are watching this movie and if you allow yourself two minutes to think you figure out your watching a movie about trolls, that single thought can take you out of the movie, and that forma movie can be a huge flaw.
6.5/10 a really fun film, just don't let your mind wander about it to much.
what about the paranormal movies?
ReplyDeleteWow, yes I fail for not mentioning them. In honor of the third I will be reviewing all three
