Hollywood is dead. Movies suck now. That was a waste of $X.
We have all heard this or some of us might be guilty of saying it ourselves, but what many forget is that movies should be entertaining. Hollywood isn't dead, the audience has changed. America wants CGI, action, blood, and boobies. Hollywood is willing to give it to us, because it sells. Everything boils down to power, and wealth is a common representation of power. If America wants two and a half hours of slow motion CGI robots fighting, then that is what is in theaters. I am not trying to convince you, that I am any different. Sometimes a good mindless action movie with an ensemble cast of the largest action movie actors is something I want, but why I asked Jeff to join this blog is not because I want to review movies. I want to enlighten the reader. I want to enlighten you about the movies where the director/writer made the movie not for money or an Oscar, but for the beauty of art, or innovation.
Now that I informed the reader why I write, I would like to introduce myself. My name is Ben, and I am an Asian studies degree seeking philosopher gamer. Why does this matter? An individual chooses movies based on his mindset, and interests. I am not going to review only a certain type of genre, but I will most likely stay with Asian movies. Since its part of who I am, and also since I am a current resident. I might indulge in different cinema nationalities, but I am the unofficial Asian Cinema reviewer.

Very well written and thoughtful. You have exactly the mindset of what i am looking for. Big robots are fine and dandy but when it come down to it substance is what I am looking for and want to inform people of. Interesting Funny Games is number 2 owned it for a while now and still have not watched it. Is your the 2007(i think) remake or the 1997 one?
ReplyDelete2007 American Remake. I have wanted to watch the original, but never got around to it. So many movies, so little time.
