hannah, everything must go

so today featured two new releases among a couple straight to dvd bs. i try to watch all of them, but to be honest if it's crap i'll either warn or ignore those. this week featured Hannah, a flik about a little girl assassin, and everything must go, the new Ferrell peice.
First off Hannah. it was awesome. had to admit going in i wasn't expecting much. figured it was gonna be some realized in five minutes concept with a lot of slow mo shots. i was wrong. even with the fact that two of the three main characters were portrayed by actors i don't like at all (Eric Bana and the girl from lovely bones) i was fully engaged within the first twenty minutes. am even hopeful to watch it again soon to find crap i missed the first time around. first off these types of films usually involve an almost superhero but robotic main character. This film was not the case. action, awesome, special effects, awesome. and for a straight shoot and keep going pic, the story had depth too. highly recommend.
Next for the week is Everything must go from Mr will Ferrell. The advertising for this movie played to his strengths, come and ye shall laugh. but be warned. this movie was good, real good, but it wasn't funny. I liken this movie to Adam Sandler's punch drunk love. a good movie, but a funny man's attempt at a drama. About forty percent of this movie is mr Ferrell pondering silently about life. It touches on serious elements like depression, alcoholism, and moving through a midlife crisis, so in that sense his no shame acting style works. But i feel alot of people are going to come away from this see with a sense of what the hell was that. be in the mood for this one, and you'll like it. but again, it's not a comedy.

  1. Really looking forward to checking out both films. Everything must go seems like its going to be a good Will Farrel film. I hate his usual stuff but when he does different stuff it somehow works like Stranger than fiction
