Plot:In 2006, a "burglary" occurs at the home of Kristi (Sprague Grayden) and Dan Rey (Brian Boland). Every room is completely trashed except for their infant son Hunter's bedroom. The only thing stolen is a necklace that Kristi's sister, Katie (Katie Featherston), had given her, as well as a box of video tapes. Dan installs security cameras throughout the house to watch over Hunter
Review: P.A.2 takes place two years before the first film. Usually prequels don't work well (*coughstarwarscough*) but P.A.2 isn't your usual prequel. Where the first film worked incredibly well was in it's build up. It exchanged jump scares for shear build up with one or two releases.
P.A.2 uses a few more "releases". While there are more jump scares it doesn't make the film any less effective. The jump scares work really well showing some great moments. This is one of the best sequels I have seen ever. Horror sequels aren't exactly a gold standard in cinema, in fact some of the worst films to grace screens are usually horror sequels (*coughhostel2cough*). P.A.2 does everything that the first film did right, but better. What P.A. only did okay was the acting, P.A.2 fixes this. While not great the acting is better. The only issue the film has is that like the first it does drag a bit.
Overall 9.5/10 A simply great pre-sequel. Plenty of great moments with just enough build up.
